Are you Accredited for Vaccinations?

As pharmacies around the country join the COVID-19 Vaccination roll-out, it is a timely reminder that you must be accredited at a service level under the Quality Care Pharmacy Program in order to deliver a vaccination service in your pharmacy.

Quality Care accreditation ensures a framework is in place for the ongoing safe and quality delivery of pharmacy services to the Australian public, which remains incredibly important in this high risk environment.

If you are delivering the COVID-19 Vaccination, you must be accredited for Vaccination Services to maintain compliance with your QCPP Accreditation.

Under QCPP Rules (rule 27 and 43) and Terms and Conditions, pharmacies are not permitted to offer or advertise for a service that is not QCPP accredited.

If you would like to add Vaccination Services to your QCPP accreditation, you can complete an expansion of services form below.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I am accredited for Vaccination Services?

Check your Accreditation Schedule and Certificate from your most recent QCPP assessment. If you are accredited for Vaccination Services, it will be listed on the Accreditation Schedule.

What is the turnaround time on an expansion of services?

Turnaround times can take up to 10 business days dependent on volume but will be completed as quickly as possible. To streamline the process, please ensure you provide all required evidence at the time of submission.

How much does an Expansion of Services cost?

Charges for applications are $100 (plus GST) for each additional professional service. You will be sent an invoice via email.

This cost covers the administration involved in the assessment of evidence provided for the expansion.

Can I begin vaccinating before I have completed my expansion of services?

No, under program rules (rule 27 and 43) pharmacies are not permitted to offer or advertise for a service that is not QCPP accredited.

Doing so may result in a sanction being applied to the pharmacy in line with the Sanction Management Policy.

I have received my QCPP accreditation, is that not enough?

Vaccination services are considered an additional service under the Quality Care Pharmacy Program.

If you did not declare this service at your most recent assessment, you were not assessed for the service and therefore not accredited to deliver vaccination services in your pharmacy.
